CFA show rules will be strictly enforced . Copies of the current show rules can be obtained by contacting CFA (260 E. Main St. Alliance, OH 44601. This is a CFA licensed show. All championship, premiership, and kitten entries will be scored for CFA Regional and National Awards.
Show Hall/Parking: George R. Brown Convention Center (Hall A) 1001 Avenida de las Americas Houston, TX 77010 Ph: 713-853-8000. The show hall has heating or air conditioning as appropriate. Food is available. Please coordinate grand parties with show managers since outside food is not permitted. Parking is $7 (street) and $10 (garage) per day (including Friday). Smoking is not permitted in the show hall. The show hall is handicapped accessible. Exhibitors with handicaps are responsible for making their special needs known to the entry clerk. Show Hours: Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm; Sunday from 9:00am to 4:00pm or until judging is complete. Check-in Saturday is 8:00am to 9:30am. Friday setup will be allowed from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Exhibitors arriving late on Saturday and have already been marked absent in the catalog will have to notify each ring that they are present. Entries (except kittens) may not be removed from the show hall prior to the completion of judging without the permission of the show managers. Show managers must notify security that the exhibitor has permission to leave.
Entries: All fees must accompany entry. No postdated checks will be accepted. Please make checks payable to The Houston Cat Club. After making a faxed or online entry, payment needs to be mailed immediately. Payments by PayPal will be accepted. Make payments to houstoncatclub@hotmail.com and note "Houston Cat Club" in the notes field. If championship cats or kittens are entered in addition to premiership cats, they will be considered the first two entries for purposes of calculating the entry fee. There will be no refund for failure to bench.
Benching: Single cages are 22”X22”X22” and double cages are 22”X22”X45”. Exhibitors must provide their own cage curtains. Benching requests made at time of entry will be honored when possible. Bring your own cat food, dishes and litter pans - litter will be provided. Security cage for single entry requires purchase of extra half cage.
Kitten Sales: You must have an entry in the show. You must purchase a For Sale cage in order to sell cats or kittens at this show (if the cats or kittens are not entered in the show). One adult or two kittens per 1/2 cage space. Proof of age may be required for very small kittens. No cat or kitten may be sold for less than $100.00. No kittens under 4 months of age are allowed in the show hall. No cats or kittens permitted in carriers under the benching tables. Cats or kittens that are sold may not leave the show hall without an exit pass obtained from the Information Booth. These rules will be enforced.
Veterinary: This is a non-vetted show. It is strongly advised that all entries be inoculated against feline panleukopenia, feline rhinotracheitis, and calici viruses. It is also strongly recommended that cats be tested and found negative for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. All entries must be free of fleas, fungus, and ear mites, and have a current rabies vaccination. The show committee reserves the right to remove any cat or kitten from the show hall if suspected of having any of the above conditions until examined by a veterinarian at the owner’s or agent’s expense. Entries’ claws must be clipped on all four feet. Declawed cats are ineligible per CFA rules.
Liability: Reasonable care of cats and other property will be provided. However, neither The Houston Cat Club nor the George R. Brown Convention Center will be liable for any loss or damage to a cat, exhibitor, or their personal property. No cats may be left in the show hall overnight.
Show Hotel: There is no free shuttle from the airports. We have a block of rooms at the Hilton adjacent to the Convention Center (1600 Lamar, 713-739-8000 or 1-800-236-2905). $127/night + tax for one or two adults. First night room deposit may be charged. $75 pet deposit has been waived, please keep rooms spotless. Self-parking is $19/day (in/out privileges if hotel is notified at check-in). Make reservations by December 18. The code for the Houston Cat Club room block is 1SH. There are also many hotels in the Galleria area, about 9 miles from the Convention Center. Check web sites for other hotel locations and rates.
Advertisements (HCC members, vendors, exhibitors): Black & White only. Ad prices: Full Page $40; ½ Page $25; ¼ Page $15; Business Cards $10.
Household Pets: Household Pets are judged all 8 rings. Contact Toni Huff at gulfcats@comcast.net or 409-599-3578. Household Pets will be inspected at check in. No cats with wild ancestry will be allowed in the show hall per CFA rules. This includes, but may not be limited to, Bengals, Toygers, Serengetis, Savannahs, and Chausies. Cats with wild ancestry will not be benched and the entry fee will not be refunded.
Feline Agility: Cats must have a CFA registration number or be entered in the Household Pet show in order to participate. Pay $10 fee with entry. Shelter cats present in the show hall may also participate.
